Montenegro - Podgorica weather forecast
Though a small place, Montenegro has different elevations and this contributes to the variation in temperatures across the area. Its lower areas have the typical Mediterranean climate with dry summers and wet yet mild winters. Podgorica, its capital, is situated near the sea level and has the warmest summer temperatures, which average around 27 °C (81° F).
The Karst mountain areas have sub-alpine weather with cold and snowy winters. Cetinje, which is located in the Karst region (landscape formed due to the dissolution of a layer or layers of soluble bedrock) at an elevation of 670m (2,200 ft), is also the official residence of the President of Montenegro. This region has temperatures that are 5°C (10° F) lower than those of the towns located at sea level. The January temperatures in Montenegro range from 3°C (27° F) in the northern mountains to 8°C (46° F) at the coastal town of Bar on the southern coast.
Some of the highest amounts of rainfall in Europe are received in the mountainous regions of Montenegro. The northern mountainous regions have snow covering them throughout the winter.
